Posted on 8/8/2022 by Dynamic Dental Office
Mouth CancerMouth cancer is under the head and neck cancer. They include the lip, inner lining of cheeks, tongue, roof of the mouth, floor, and gums. Oral cancer is cancer that occurs inside the mouth. Head and neck cancer have a similar type of treatment. Cancer could be fatal if not treated in the early stages. Regular visits to the dentist could help identify these cancers.

Cause and Symptoms

Mouth cancers are formed when the cells in the mouth develop mutations. These are the changes in DNA. The DNA contains the role that the cell should play in the mouth. The mutated cell continues growing and dividing, making the other cells die. The accumulation of abnormal cells is called a tumor. Eventually, the cells multiply and spread. The dentists have identified an increase in cases of mouth cancer. Mouth cancer has ear pain, mouth pain, a sore that does not heal in the mouth, Difficulty in swallowing, loose teeth, and a white or reddish mouth patch.

Risk Symptoms and Prevention

Some known factors increase the chances of getting mouth cancer. Smoking cigarettes, cigars, and pipes increase the chances of developing oral cancers. Use of smokeless tobacco such as dip snuff or chewing tobacco products. Excessive consumption of alcohol could increase the chances of developing cancer. Excessive exposure to the sun can be detrimental. At a young age, ultraviolet rays could cause lip cancers. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is common among sexually active people. Age is another factor as oral cancers take a long time to grow, but young people are at risk of getting HPV-related cancer.

Avoid drinking and smoking at all costs. These are significant causes of cancer. Eat a healthy diet and regular meals. Limit exposure to the sun, especially for children. Having healthy habits is essential. Take regular checkups with the dentist for screening. Visit us for checkups and oral screening."
