How Long does it Take to Recover from Root Canal Procedure? Our dentists perform root canal procedures to treat chronic tooth decay. With a root canal treatment, you will be able to retain your natural teeth since you will avoid tooth extraction. Traditionally, root canal treatment was painful, but with modern techniques and equipment, the process is straightforward and you will only feel a little discomfort with very minimal pain.

The procedure involves our dentist creating an opening on the affected tooth, and cleaning and sometimes removing the infected pulp of your tooth. When cleaning the inside of the tooth is the only time you will any discomfort. After cleaning the affected tooth, our dentist can place a crown to cover the exposed part of the tooth, and also to avoid any bacteria from getting in after your treatment. The procedure is usually complete in one visit, but if our specialists see that you require a second visit to complete it, our dentist will provide a temporary filling to protect you before you come back for the next visit.

The recovery process

Depending on the severity of your condition, a root canal treatment usually takes a day or two to heal for most patients. In rare cases, the recovery time can take longer, and you might require a week for complete healing. During the recovery process, there are tips you can take to ensure a flawless recovery time.
