What to Do to Clean Your Mouth After Eating Sweets

What to Do to Clean Your Mouth After Eating SweetsMany people have what we call a sweet tooth. They require sweets; it is their weakness. The problem with eating sweets is it is not good for you or your teeth. They rot your teeth, and if you do not clean your teeth properly, it can cause cavities.

How To Clean Your Teeth After Eating Sweets

Suppose you cannot stop that craving and have to eat sweets, then drinking water after will help keep your mouth clean. Chewing gum is another way to clean the mouth as it produces saliva. The gum will also help to reduce the number of cavity-causing bacteria. Make sure the gum you chew is sugar-free. Despite what you May have heard, you should not brush your teeth immediately after eating sweets. Eating sugar weakens the tooth enamel, so you should allow about an hour before brushing to avoid damage. If possible, you can try to change over to some healthier snacks like fresh fruit or raw vegetables every once in a while.

What Do Sweets Do to Your Teeth?

Eating sweets will cause plaque to build upon the teeth, which can lead to cavities. A cavity is a tiny hole in the tooth that is permanent. Cavities need to be treated as they can cause an abscess that is painful and dangerous. Cavities are treated by removing the decay and then filling the gap left. In some cases, the tooth will have to be removed altogether.
