Cheese Can Keep Your Teeth at a Lower Risk of Cavities

Cheese Can Keep Your Teeth at a Lower Risk of CavitiesMany people absolutely love cheese. And the good news is that it is excellent for your teeth! Cheese consumption is a tasty way to help lower your risk of getting cavities- this is how it works.

How Cheese Creates Healthier Teeth

Dairy is naturally high in calcium and cheese is no exception to this rule. Gouda, cheddar, provolone, mozzarella, swiss - however you choose to get your cheese fix, you can rest easy knowing that you are getting a healthy dose of calcium with each serving! This is ultimately what is the star of the show when discussing cheese. Calcium is what helps create strong teeth and bones, but we wanted to talk about the cavity-fighting property of cheese called casein.

Casein is a protein that helps prevent cavities by strengthening tooth enamel. Stronger enamel means that it is more difficult for cavities to form as well as providing a stronger barrier against acidic food and drinks.

Pair Cheese with These Foods For A Tooth-Strengthening Snack

Cheese pairs amazingly well with many other foods. One combination we can absolutely recommend is cheese and almonds. Along with the benefits cheese provides, almonds have their own dose of calcium - further increasing the calcium intake that cheese provides. Along with this, almonds promote strong jaws due to their crunchy texture.

You can also pair fresh veggies with cheese and find your favorite combo. There are many combinations of types of cheeses and veggies you can make that each provide a different flavor and texture experience. Pairing cheese and carrots for example will help clean your teeth as you are snacking (if you finish off with the carrots)!
