How To Remove Tea and Coffee Stains from TeethEveryone wants a bright pearly white smile, but this is not always the case. Many people in the United States have stained teeth. There are many reasons why your teeth may stain. Some of these reasons include your diet, smoking, poor dental hygiene, and even trauma. However, there are other reasons that we cannot control, such as genetics or accidents that may have led to poor teeth development.

There are different teeth stains that may occur. These include intrinsic, extrinsic, and age-related discolorations. Extrinsic stains occur on the teeth' surface. It typically occurs when residue from food or drink builds up on film that protects the teeth's enamel. These stains are common for tobacco users or people who drink a lot of tea or coffee. That being said, here is how you can remove tea and coffee stains from your teeth.

Activated Charcoal

Activated charcoal is a great alternative for eliminating coffee and tea stains from teeth. While we know activated charcoal is mainly used as a treatment for poison, it has absorbent properties that allow it to remove stains from teeth. On top of that, activated charcoal also helps to get rid of bacteria and toxins in the mouth. Thus, you will need to make a paste with water and use the paste to brush your teeth. Finally, rinse your mouth with warm water.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is also another great home remedy for getting rid of stains. It is a mild abrasive which allows it to get rid of stains on the enamel. For this method, you will make a paste with water and then apply the paste to the teeth and leave it on for fifteen minutes. Thereafter, rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is an oxidizer that will absorb the stains on the enamel. Thus, it is a great alternative for whitening teeth. To use hydrogen peroxide, you will need to make a paste with water and baking soda, then use the paste to brush your teeth. Thereafter, rinse thoroughly with water.

Whitening Strips

Whitening strips can also help to get rid of stains. These strips contain hydrogen peroxide which will bleach the stains from your teeth. All you have to do is place the strips on your teeth and leave them on for about twenty minutes or as per the manufacturer's instructions.

The best way to avoid staining on your teeth is to maintain good oral hygiene. Brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss daily. Ensure that you use a fluoride toothpaste. This will help to maintain strong and healthy teeth and prevent stains.
